Our Programs
At DPOL, we believe that every pet deserves a safe and loving home. By providing affordable spay/neuter services, education, and community support, we’re reducing pet overpopulation and keeping animals out of shelters. Our work is only possible thanks to the dedicated volunteers, donors, and advocates who share our mission of responsible pet care.
At DPOL, we know that loving your pet isn’t always the hard part– access to resources is. That’s why we are building programs designed to support families, remove barriers, and keep pets where they belong, at home.
Our Pets For Life program is a community-based outreach initiative designed to bring resources directly into some of the most underserved areas of Livingston Parish. Based on the Humane Society of the United States Pets for Life model, this outreach program focuses on:
Proactive outreach in underserved neighborhoods
Building trust through relationships, not judgment
Providing access to spay/neuter services
Community Pet Food Pantry assistance
Delivering vaccinations and preventive care
Offering education and support for responsible pet ownership
Pets For Life is built on the belief that most people love their pets deeply, but simply need access to affordable care. By meeting families where they are, we reduce shelter intake, prevent suffering, and strengthen our community.
Our Community Pet Food Pantry is a key component of Pets For Life. It provides temporary pet food and essential supplies to families experiencing financial hardship. Sometimes, a bag of food or basic support is all it takes to prevent a pet from being surrendered to a shelter.
